Medical Malpractice
Protecting your practice, reputation and future.Â
Scottvale understands that a malpractice claim can be as financially impactful as it is operationally disruptive. That’s why your indemnity solution must be robust, responsive and intelligently structured.
Healthcare professionals and medical organisations operate in environments where clinical complexity, regulation and reputation converge. We write medical malpractice and professional liability programmes that reflect the realities of clinical practice, regulatory obligations and exposure to claims, ensuring protection is clear, appropriate and dependable when it is needed most.

Scottvale provides specialist medical malpractice and professional liability cover for consultants, specialist practitioners, clinics and healthcare organisations, including those providing 100% of their advice or services in an online format – electronic healthcare. We work with specialist medical insurers and underwriters to secure comprehensive protection for complex disciplines, and support our clients with informed risk profiling, claims strategy and regulatory awareness as scope of practice evolves.
Â
We are open market brokers, meaning that we work with a panel of insurers to ensure we obtain the broadest cover at the most competitive premium, and offer a second to none service at new business stage, renewal and at point of claim.
CLINICAL RISK PROFILING

In-depth review of scope of practice size, procedures, patient profile and regulatory exposure to define the true risk picture. We need to have an initial phone call or Teams meeting, after which we would need a filled and signed proposal form outlining and declaring your risk and the practice.
PROGRAMMEÂ DESIGN

Indemnity structured around your specialty, subspecialty interest & claims experience, with clear wording and appropriate limits, excesses and legal support. We will approach insurers who we deem most suitable to your practice.
SPECIALIST MARKET PLACEMENT
Â
Placement with specialist medical malpractice insurers that understand complex and higher-risk clinical disciplines, and those with whom we have long term relationships and experience of dealing with their underwriters and claims handlers.
ONGOING MANAGEMENT
Active management of changes in scope of practice, mid-term adjustments, renewals and portfolio updates as your services evolve.
CLAIMS AND REGULATORY SUPPORT
Early claims strategy, insurer engagement and regulatory awareness to protect outcomes and professional standing.
ASSESSING YOUR CLINICAL EXPOSURE AND RISK PROFILE
We work with practitioners and organisations to understand your clinical risks and exposures. This allows us to match the right insurers to the level and type of exposure you carry.Â
SCOPE OF PRACTICE AND ASSOCIATED LIABILITY EXPOSURESÂ

Your partner at every step.
From initial risk profiling through to claims and regulatory support, we act as a long-term partner to healthcare professionals and medical organisations operating in highly regulated, reputationally sensitive environments.
Â
We take time to understand the realities of your clinical practice, structure indemnity around your scope of work and regulatory obligations, and present your risk clearly to specialist medical insurers to secure robust terms. As your practice evolves, we manage ongoing changes and provide strategic claims advocacy when incidents occur.

1. CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY

CLINICAL LIABILITY
Medical malpractice, clinical negligence and professional indemnity (as appropriate) whether for individuals or for corporate entities. Medical malpractice is written to cover liabilities arising from treatment or advice offered by clinicians or healthcare facilities. Professional indemnity is to cover financial liabilities where there is a non injury trigger, this is not typically needed for individual practitioners whose only work is medical treatment or advice.

REGULATORY RISK
All policies offered by us will normally include cover for regulatory risk, which includes GMC investigations for individuals or CQC investigations for physical clinics.
Â
 OPERATIONAL & REGULATORY EXPOSURE
Â
PUBLIC LIABILITY
Liability for your operating in a public environment, which are not directly related to treatment.
Â
CYBER
Cyber liability is becoming ever more relevant, healthcare professionals and organisations hold vast amounts of sensitive data as well as often holding funds on behalf of third parties. Cyber liability will either be included in your policy or we would need to obtain separate and standalone terms.

PROPERTY RISK
Even clinicians without a physical clinic can have property exposure, items such as loupes, laptops and implant samples can all be expensive to replace, consideration needs to be made as to whether to insure.
Â
EMPLOYERS LIABILITY
HM Government mandates that if you have any employees other than those exempt in specific situations, employers liability needs to be in force.
